RESULT ... PISTE OF ORIGIN

This year's event was hosted by the Papanui Petanque Club. Many of the games were extremely closely contested but in the end it was the Christchurch Club which won by
35 points to 25 points. A great day that was enjoyed by all who took part.

RESULTS ... SOUTH ISLAND DOUBLES

Champions for 2012 ... Andrew Findlay and Mark Richardson receiving the trophy from Terry Holt of the Caversham Club who hosted the tournament.

RESULTS ... CLUB SINGLES

A lovely warm-weather day welcomed 16 players competing for the title of Club Champion. A very competitive group including Craig the 2011 Open Champion and Tina the 2011 Womens Champion. As usual not everything went to plan for players and there were many tight games and surprise results.

At the business end of the tournament there were two men and two women in the last four ... and somehow the men edged out the women with Andrew Findlay and Mark Richardson fighting out the final on the competition terrain ... Andrew winning in a tight struggle. Meanwhile Tina Targett and Chris Taylor competed for the title of Womens Champion. After a long day and another tough game, Tina managed to retain her title.

RESULTS ... SOUTH ISLAND WOMENS TRIPLES

Stunning weather in Oamaru for the 12 Triples Teams who competed in this year's competition. Lots of close games but in the end it was the established Christchurch Petanque Club triple of Tina Targett, Chris Taylor and Karen Stephen who emerged as worthy Champions. Their final game was particularly noteworthy as they held their nerve to come back from 1-12 down to win the game. They are currently the Club, South Island and National Triples Champions. We wish them well when they travel to Tauranga in a few weeks time to defend their national title.

RESULTS ... BASTILLE DAY TOURNAMENT

The weather turned it on for the 2012 Bastille Day Tournament and 16 Doubles Teams registered for what turned out to be a wonderfully enjoyable day of competitive petanque with more than a hint of 'joie de vivre'. A very splendid competition with lots of great play and many close results. The final between Tina & Art and Andrew & Raewyn was closer than the final score suggests and it was wonderful to see Raewyn ( a relatively new player ) getting to the final of this tournament.

RESULTS ... South Island Triples 2012

Fourteen teams from Dunedin, Timaru, Alexandra and Christchurch met at the Hagley Park terrain to compete in this years championship under clear blue skies and thankfully a complete absence of aftershocks. There was keen competition tempered by fair play and good sportsmanship. All the minor finals finished ahead of the Championship Final so that the players could watch and enjoy the contest between the top two teams from the weekend's play. As usual it was a tight and tense affair and was anyone's game until the 'guys' got a breakthrough that changed the game. Congratulations to Neville, John and Jared on their win, and to Tina, Chris and Karen on making the final and continuing their fine form since winning the National Women's Triples title in 2011.

RESULTS ... Club Triples 2012

Just seven teams this year, a little disappointing but given the fact that we still don't have a
clubhouse we can use, it was probably a decent enough turn out. The tournament was
played as a Round Robin with the title being decided on the number of wins and points
differentials in the event of a draw. In the end it went down to the wire with the title going to the winner of one of the final round games ... the current National Women's Triples
champions, Tina Targett, Chris Taylor and Karen Stephen against Les Clearwater, Art Vernon and Jared Handford. The final decisive end was enthralling with both teams playing wonderfully accurate shots but the final outcome was a win for the ladies.

Runners Up : Art Vernon, Jared Handford, Les Clearwater             Third : Billie Sepsy, John Targett and Janet Wilkinson

RESULTS ... Senior Tri Star Tournament 2012

Now in it's fourth year, this ever popular tournament say regional teams from Southern, Wellington and canterbury lock horns. As usual the host region put forward two teams. This year it was Canterbury's turn to host the tournament and one team each was put forward by the Papanui and Christchurch Clubs.

It was an excellent weekend enjoyed by all the players ... especially the Canterbury ones, with the Canterbury Black ( Papanui Club ) taking the title for Canterbury, with Canterbury Red ( Christchurch Club ) in second place followed by Wellington and Southern.
