FRENCH FEST 10 October 2015
Glorious occasion, glorious weather , glorious fun – what more could you want ?
The 175th landing of the French settlers at Akaroa was celebrated on Saturday and the many visitors who trekked over the hill to Akaroa to join in "all things French" had a wonderful day.
Christchurch Petanque ran social Petanque on the five piste Akaroa terrain initially in a cool breeze which became welcome as temperatures rose.
Family groups, international visitors, locals and many others joined in this happy occasion and we even had a princess playing. They enjoyed themselves so much that it went on much longer than scheduled. The last group finished at 7pm by which time helpers Alain Carpentier and Pat O'Shea needed to return to Christchurch to prepare for the following day's Club Doubles.
This occasion showcased Petanque at its inclusive best and a conservative estimate of those playing would be around 300-350. Fliers for our Club were handed out and many promised to visit so that is a really positive outcome. Report by Diane Findlay.
2015 SOUTH ISLAND WOMEN'S TRIPLES
This year's tournament was held in Timaru with 10 teams competing in the Championship and Plate. Champions for 2015 are Sandra Hay, Chris Taylor and Karen Stephen who beat the Papanui team of Caroline Kinloch, Janet Wilkinson and Noeline Newton.
2015 NATIONAL TRIPLES CHAMPIONSHIP
The annual tournament was played under pure blue skies at the Christchurch Club with 18 of the top New Zealand teams competing for the national title. This included several from the Christchurch Club, all of whom performed with great merit, with four of the teams qualifying for the top 8 of the Championship. In addition, Stephane continued his fine form by winning the mens shooting title beating Richard Brown in the final. Congratulations to all those players.

Winners : Robin and Richard Runners Up : Marion and Art
A beautiful summer's day in Christchurch. Due to late publicity there were only 6 teams this year, but they all had a great time and competed strongly. In the end the winners were Robin and Richard ... and deservedly so, having finished the day unbeaten and having beaten every other team.
